Straight answers, from me — Ben Pearson, owner of GreenKeys Locksmith. If your question isn’t here, call me at (510) 209-8317, Monday–Sunday, 9:30 AM–11:30 PM.
Calling & Working With Me
Q: Are you really the one who answers the phone and shows up?
A: Yes. GreenKeys Locksmith is just me — Ben Pearson, the owner. I have no employees, no subcontractors, no call center, and no dispatch service. When you call (510) 209-8317, you talk to me. When someone shows up at your door, it’s me, and I’m the one who does the work. And your satisfaction is personally guaranteed by me — if something isn’t right, you talk to me and I make it right.
Q: What if you’re busy when I call?
A: I’m a one-man operation, so occasionally I can’t pick up because I’m in the middle of helping another customer. If that happens, please leave me a message with your name, your city, and what you need — and I’ll get back to you. Honest answer, no runaround: you will never reach a call center instead, because there isn’t one.
Q: I’m locked out of my house. What do I do?
A: Call me at (510) 209-8317. I handle house lockouts during my business hours, 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM, seven days a week. Stay somewhere safe, keep your phone on you, and don’t try to force a door or climb through a window — that usually turns a lockout into a lockout plus a repair. If you’re locked out outside my hours, I’m sorry — I’m not a 24/7 service, and I’d rather tell you that straight than promise something I can’t deliver.
Services
Q: Do you make car keys?
A: No. I don’t do automotive work at all — no car keys, no key programming, no key fobs. I work on homes and businesses only. I’d rather tell you that upfront than waste your time; a good auto locksmith is who you want for a car key.
Q: Do you copy or duplicate keys?
A: No, I don’t offer key duplication or key copies. What I do is work on the locks themselves — rekeys, lock changes, repairs, replacements, and installations — for homes and businesses.
Q: Rekey or lock change — which one do I need?
A: A rekey keeps your existing locks but changes the pins inside, so the old keys stop working and a new key works instead. That’s usually the right call when you’ve moved in, a roommate or tenant has moved out, or you’re not sure who has copies of your key. A lock change means I remove the hardware and install a new lock — that’s the better call when a lock is worn out, damaged, sticking, or you want to upgrade. If you’re not sure, call me and describe what you’ve got. I’ll give you an honest, flat quote and tell you which one actually makes sense — I don’t upsell.
Q: I already bought a smart lock. Will you install it?
A: Quite possibly — I install smart locks for homes and businesses, including ones customers have picked out themselves. The honest answer is that it depends on the lock and your door, so call me at (510) 209-8317 and tell me what you bought, and I’ll tell you straight whether it’s a fit before you commit to anything.
Hours & Availability
Q: What are your hours?
A: I’m open Monday through Sunday, 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM, seven days a week.
Q: Are you a 24/7 locksmith?
A: No, and I won’t pretend to be. My hours are 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM, seven days a week. If you need help during those hours, call me at (510) 209-8317 and you’ll get me personally.
Q: Do you have a shop I can visit?
A: No — I’m a fully mobile locksmith, so there’s no walk-in shop. I come to you: your home or your business. That’s deliberate. You don’t haul a broken lock to a counter; I show up with everything needed to fix it on the spot.
Q: What areas do you serve?
A: I’m based in Newark, and I focus on six cities: Fremont, Newark, Union City, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Atherton. I also take work in the cities in between and nearby when it makes sense. If you’re not sure whether I come to you, call and ask — you’ll get a straight yes or no from me.
Pricing & Trust
Q: Are you licensed?
A: Yes. GreenKeys Locksmith is licensed in California — License LCO 5134 (BSIS). I’m happy to show you my license when I arrive, and you can look the number up before you ever call.
Q: How do quotes work? What will it cost?
A: Simple and honest: you call, you tell me what’s going on, and I give you a flat, accurate quote for the work. No upsell, no surprises added at your door. I believe in great value — solving your problem, minimizing your headache, and making sure you’re secure and safe. And because it’s just me, your satisfaction is personally guaranteed by me.
